DB's cheap guide to exercising (for lazy people like me)
I don't think I need to reiterate to you guys how important exercise is, so I'll just get down to it.
I'm lazy and I literally hate to exercise, but it does wonders for my anxiety so I figured there had to be a way to sneak tiny amounts of exercise into my day. If you have an extra 5 minutes to spare a few times every day, you can get in on the action, too!
BTW, don't let youtube or pinterest trick you into thinking certain exercises are really geared toward one gender over another. ANYBODY can do this!
#1: Yoga. Although a mat and some loose clothing can help, it literally costs nothing to get started. There are loads of videos and pictures on the internet that can get you breaking a sweat and using muscle groups you don't normally use in literally minutes. Be forewarned not to injure yourself, and it might kick your ass in a good way!
#2: Jumping rope. This idea seemed really dumb to me until I tried it and got super winded immediately. Ropes cost about a tenner here in the states, and it will seriously leave you breathless. It's great for a no-hassle aerobic session, and you can lug them around easily.
#3: Resistance bands. My fiance just turned me onto these and I am having a BLAST. For about $20, you can get a whole set of different weighted bands and exercise just about every muscle in your body. They all fit inside of a tiny little bag, so you can bring them to work and do some curls on break!
#4: Hula hooping. Everyone can do this, even adult men, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Weighted hoops can cost well up into the hundreds, but if you're a beginner they're about $20 USD on amazon, and you're not likely to wear a hole in it. I've had mine for a few years now, and it works phenomenally.
#5: Makeshift exercise bike. You know those crappy bikes from Walmart that everyone rips apart? They serve a purpose - get one of those (roughly $100) and a cheap bike stand. You won't have to worry about balancing or any of that, and you can still get a good workout in! Unfortunately this is one of the more pricier options, but it's well worth it.
#6: Bodyweight exercises. This costs absolutely $0. You can look up some techniques (or buy a book, which in that case it might cost you $10) and pretty much get started immediately. There are SO many more workouts than just pushups, situps and lunges that you will literally be amazed at what you can accomplish... with virtually nothing.
As a word of caution, if something hurts really bad, stop. That's how you risk injury - feeling exhilarated and breaking a good sweat is good, but there should be no actual 'pain' involved.
