I go so far as to throw away items if I can't get more of it, in order to make all those chests disappear...

I do, I try to collect everything in games in general.

Like last time I played Skyrim I tried collecting every book in the game, as well as every armor set and stuff like that. I'm planning on doing a complete book collection when I play the game again this December as my "final" run through the game, as I'm only missing one achievement (74/75)

Yes, I've been trying to get 100% synch in AC3 for ages...

This is my favorite rpg ever. I try to grab every chest in rpgs/games in general. Having to not pick up chests to get better items was so difficult for me. -_-
Speaking of Final Fantasy, FF12 had an item that could only be gotten by not opening certain chests, but it doesn't give you any hints on what chests not to open or even that the item exists so that you would know not to have opened the chests before you get to the one with the item. Something about that still bugs me to this day. :?

Sometimes, depending on the game. In particular I tend to go after every present in EarthBound & Mother 3, and on my current EarthBound run I plan on going for all 1 in 128 chance drops ( only one I've never obtained is the Gutsy Bat. NP guide mistakenly listed it as dropped by Krakens in the Sea of Eden area of Magicant, but it's actually dropped by Bionic Krakens in the final area leading to Giygas )...I also tend to go for every "chest" in Pokemon games.

They aren't chests. They're pokeballs filled with items.

Yes, I grab every chest.
And if the game has a bestiary or a monster book, I have to make sure I kill all the monsters in the book and grab all possible loots.
I also try to do every possible quest and find every hidden item.

In Oblivion, I have done all the quests and the expansions and DLCs. And I have all the items in my houses. Each house dedicated to different kinds of items.

I know that...I put chests in quotes as a joke. I guess the joke didn't work.... ( also double entendre referring to Misty, Cynthia, Flannery and other female trainers )

Yes, because nothing is more satisfying than walking into a complete stranger's home, opening every chest they have, and taking all of their weapons and money right in front of them, without them minding about it one bit.

In Dragon Age Orgins, I try to get every single back and then when my inventory gets full I hate destorying anything but have to as I need to empty the chest or loot then next body my Warden kills. Also, I try to complete every quest that I gwet but there is one that I can't complete in find every single love letter.

It's the same in Fable the lost chapters in getting every sliver key and open every magic/forbbiden door.
