Gee! What could be the real cause of the obesity epidemic?

As it turns out, unhealthy foods are more affordable than healthy foods.
... so capitalism is the problem. I can't say I'm surprised.

However, it’s still cheaper to eat less and go hungry.

Where I work both the big bars and packs of chocolate and bird food are huge sellers (we sell practically everything and we're cheep). I keep thinking that these people would be a lot healthier if they eat the bird food. I think that would make a good experiment, 'can humans live on bird food' at least it would be an affordable diet, and a body would have to put a lot of effort into digesting all those seeds. I wonder what the fat balls taste like. I'm particularly tempted by the really big cheep bags of peanuts. I'd leave the mealworms, even though the birds love them. Just a thought.

Maybe I should do this diet on youtube :D

Consider the damage caused by bottle feeding infants.

^ Not every woman can nurse.

And I was bottle-fed, and I am not obese.

I was breast-fed for a really long time, and I am obese, so …

the biggest weight gain factor, is chronically unrelieved stress over years. cortisol causes fat deposition in the viscera resulting in the apple-shaped pre-diabetic metabolic syndrome shape.

And walking.

I lived in Yurp for several years - hiked all over, took trains and hiked some more, and saw lots of other people hiking and just walking everywhere. Didn't notice much obesity. Every time I came home to the US on visits, my compatriots looked fatter and sadder. And people drive everywhere, here.

Walking is one of the best stress-busters there is. Costs nothing :-). If you live someplace where you can do it safely, or at all :-( .

BS. Getting rid of capitalism won't magically make quality cost less. In addition, while cheap food might be less healthy, you shouldn't be getting obese off it unless you're overeating.

Oh - sorry, I was being a goof. Europe. I read an article once about how we Yankees pronounce things, and pronouncing Europe as Yurp kinda hit my funnybone because I actually knew people who did that. Sorry! Also, it was Switzerland.
