An Internet video purports to show the beheading of US reporter Steven Sotloff by the Islamic State extremist group.

The global terror intelligence firm SITE first reported the release of the video, titled "A Second Message to America," in which Sotloff, a 31-year-old freelance journalist, speaks to the camera before a cloaked Islamic State fighter decapitates him.

Somehow I don't think that this will achieve the stated goal of stopping US bombing...

I saw the ISIS video of the 2nd beheading and, like the first, the actual beheading is edited out. I did, however, see a video of the beheading of two Christians by Syrian rebels on Military.com. That video is extremely brutal and not recommended for anyone under 18. I saw it and wasn't shocked because, I guess, I've seen lots of graphic and depraved videos already. Maybe I'm desensitized to it. It's interesting. No matter how graphic a filmmaker can make a film, it's still not as brutal as reality. Man's violence towards man knows no limits. These atrocities could never be fully depicted. Just imagine what a movie of 'Martyrs Mirror' would look like.

No surprises here since beheadings seem to be their stock-in-trade over there.
Being a western reporter in that part of the world is especially risky.

Over 70 Reporters and Media workers have been killed so far during the 3+ years of the Syrian Civil War. For comparison, during the 20 years conflict in Vietnam, 65 reporters lost their lives.

Those numbers include reporters of all nationalities.

Ah, yes, the true face of Islam. Yes, I've read the Koran and the Hadith. Beheadings and crucifixions are the prescribe treatment for Christians and Jews. This is why my ancestors proudly crusaded against them and why I fought against them - other than that I was ordered to.

I always thought using that type for spare parts was a way to finally have them contribute something useful.

That seems to be some kind of hobby in those places....example of why religious extremism and theocracies are not good things for the world.
