Hi,

I bought these Japanese microwave kits. I was wondering if anyone would translate the instructions for me. Many thanks. :D

wish my Japanese mother had taught me Japanese. anyways, it seems that if you could somehow find an optical character recognition device that "knew" Japanese, scanned the characters into it, then took it to an online translator you might be able to get useful info out of it sufficient to cook those yummy-looking things. sorry I'm not smart enough to translate those for you.

my japanese is very rough, but so far, I have been able to follow cooking instructions leike these. they are usually fool-proof

so: let's start with this one, the taiyaki:

the red dot text in the upper left corner:
100g of "hot cake" mix
40g of sugar
1 egg
80ml cow's milk

1 mix milk and egg in a bowl, add sugar and cake mix and stir
2 add oil to the forms, wipe it out with kitchen roll
the next bit is an educated guess by me, as the words don't make sense to me: you'll have to wait a little (7 minutes) for the dough to settle, and than rattle the pan, so the air bubbles will detach fro the bottom and float up, making sure the dough fills out the shape-giving bits of the pan properly.

3 put in microwave
(2 min at 500W, 1:20 at 700W, it says s o in the blue box at the bottom)
the last sentence on 3 I can't really tell wether you have to wait for them to cool off a bit or take them out immediately.
from my own baking experience, I'd wait a few minutes.


the recipe for the green fish is the same, just 2 sachets (lit.: saji) of matcha powder added.



the other ones are all really really blurry and hard to readguess for me.


do I qualify for noodles?

American Dog (5 servings)

Hotcake mix (pancake mix) - 50g
1 medium egg
Milk - 20cc (20ml)
Worcestershire sauce (or Tonkatsu sauce) - 2 teaspoons
5 Wiener sausages (hotdog sausages)

1. Mix first 4 ingredients in a bowl.
2. Pierce sausage with toothpick 5-6 times and insert the toothpick in the sausage.
3. Pour 1 tablespoon of batter into the mold and place the sausage. (pierced side up I guess)
4. Close the mold tightly and cook. (40sec for 500w, 30sec for 700w)
5.6 Take out the sausage and pour another 1 tablespoon of batter into the mold and place the sausage (sausage side down)
7. Close the mold tightly and cook again (40sec for 500w, 30sec for 700w)
8. Voilà! Enjoy!
*if you want sweeter batter, omit Worcestershire sauce.

I didn't translate word for word but it should do the trick.

Couldn't make out the waffle pic.
Shlaifu's Taiyaki instruction is pretty much correct except one part. It says to pour the batter 70% full of the mold not wait for 7 minutes before cooking. The same kanji character was used so I could see why you guessed that way though.
And it says to wait for a little bit to cool down before taking it out.

lol It's more fun when you let Bing or Google translate it. I have a friend on Facebook who did an exchange here in high school and sometimes I will click the translation links under her posts just for a laugh. Online translators have a long ways to go still. lol

Too true. lol Japanese has always been one of the worst with online translators that I've seen. (although I imagine other languages from that part of the world are equally bad)
