Have you ever noticed how Jewish religion, when it goes as far as specifying exactly how many pounds is okay to carry on sabbath and exactly how many feet, is similar to autistic thinking. Also, Jews traditionally rock their body back and forth while praying just like autistic do. It seems that perhaps ppl who wrote talmud were autistic to some extend. It is also possible that Jews are genetically more predisposed to autism than others, which is why they were willing to follow through on these beliefs for centuries.

I am not saying that all Jews are autistic or anythign like that. Clearly, most of them are NT just like most ppl of other races are. But since autism is a spectrum, perhaps its possible that Jews are affected by its "shaddow" so to speak. For instance if the combination of a thousand genes cause full blown autism, perhaps the average Jew carries 5 or 10 of these. At the same time, while the number of ppl who have full blown autism (with all 1000 of them) is still a minority, perhaps that minority is larger among the Jews which is why some of them were in a position to write talmud. What do you think?

My dad's side of the family is Jewish, (from Poland), but I don't think we have any autistic individuals in our family history. However, my dad is a diagnosed narcissist, and my family on both sides has a disproportionately large number of addicts - which includes my brother and myself.

Having said that though, I can see what you're saying because I do think I have a few aspie characteristics.

Living under a rule-based religion would probably not cause autism or Aspergers, but such a religion and its associated culture would be made to order for someone who happens to be an Aspie, for example.

Judaism is inherently move "objective" than say Christianity of the agape variety. Less gooey sticky sentiment. One can always determine if he is acting according to halachah (Jewish law). With Christianity, one is supposed to be filled with love (whatever that is).

Judaism is a suitable religion for Aspies for the same reason that computer technology is the right career venue for an Aspie.

Correct. It's a genetic issue (and I believe the propensity for addiction is genetic also), not a religious one, per se: http://www.simpletoremember.com/article ... -genetics/

I was referring to Jews as a genetic group rather than religious. I know rule-based religion won't cause autism. But autistic genetics might produce rule-based religion as well as make it easier for the ethnic group to retain that religion throughout generations.

By the way IQ studies show that Jews have a very large discrepancy between verbal and performance IQ: the former is well above average while latter is average. This is typical of Asperger.

this could also explain antisemitism as a world wide bullying
i mean
Jews were always considered wired, different, hard to swallow, their presence uncomfortable and a bit out of sync
Jews were also very into integrating with the locals and at times to succsful at that for their own good
Good with numbers and words and of weak and sensitive bodies
Israel Hi tech is out of proportion to the population size
how come few millions of us take such a giant rull in the IT revolution
jews must be aspies
one other trait which i find very aspi like here in israel is that everyone have a different opinion on any little thing and is willing to go to a lot of trouble to make his voice heard

JudAiSm topic

Judaism is the only religion I have ever contemplated joining.

But as has been said, rather ironically I believe, that it would be best not to join a group that would consider the would-be joiner as a member. :P

Isn't it also a little more common in the culture to discuss the details of any kind of transaction...like asking before every meal what comes on the sandwich is a little more common practice over there than in most other parts of the world that just figure "you get what you get". At least others have said that about the culture and I thought it was really cool.

I have read that Jews are more predisposed to having tuberous sclerosis which has been proven to cause autism.

Jews are also much more likely to have radical beliefs which would make them a bit eccentric compared to the norm.
They have higher IQs too which make them appear nerdy perhaps. Nerdy, eccentric people resemble aspies.

TSC topic

I just finished looking up this topic of TSC. I did not find any references to Jews.

I haven't heard that aspi gene is linked to Germanic ppl. Can you tell me where you heard it, I would really like to research that.

There is a theory known as "british Israelism" according to which various ppl of European descent come from lost tribes of Israel. There are a lot of different proposals in terms of which ethnicity is which tribe, but I believe most of them agree that Germanic ppl is one of the lost tribes as well.

So would a curse put on them by a wood nymph jealous of the physical appearance of a convergent female ancestress of an early lineage of Jewish folk.

These two claims are actually mutually contrary. Well integrated entails_not being thought of as weird, but rather as fitting in very well.

In addition, a child born with Aspie characteristics is more likely to flourish or adjust in a Jewish environment than, say, in a Christian environment. Jewish culture is rules oriented and this is tailor made for Aspies. Jewish Aspies will flourish in a way similar to the way Aspies flourish in a computer oriented or computer based culture. They relate to rules more than to emotional situations.

A devout Christian is moved by Faith and a devout Jew is moved but halachah (Jewish teaching and law). You might say that the Jewish people are Table Driven.

I was a bit confused myself as to why "well integrated" made it into his list.

But in my opinion, Jews are NOT well integrated -- most cultures completely assimilate if they live among others for centuries; Jews didn't. Now, the fact that they DIDN"T integrate is in fact a strong evidence for their autism.

Er, no not really. I would not describe the European migration settlements established around the world as examples of integration into local communities.

I do not believe that fanciful explanations are necessary to explain these issues. There is nothing mysterious about different groups in communities keeping to their own religion and marrying accordingly. On the contrary this was the norm for Europe for most of the last couple of thousand years. There is nothing unusual about conflict periodically arising over issues of religious difference and over wealth either.
