Is anyone interested in seeing Dreamworks' "Home?" I saw it last weekend, and I LOVED it!! I thought it was adorable, and very touching. The basic plot is that a race of aliens called "The Boov" decide to colonize Earth in order to hide from their enemies, and relocate all the humans in the process. The driving force of the film is that a misfit Boov named "Oh" (who gets his name from the disappointed exclamations uttered by the other Boov when he shows up anywhere) has to help a preteen girl named Tip find her mother. Tip also happens to be the first African American female protagonist that Dreamworks Animation has ever had in one of their movies.

When I went to see the movie last Friday night, a bunch of little kids were there with their parents, which actually made it a lot more fun...they laughed, they asked questions about what was going on, and commented on what was happening. At the end, everyone, even the adults in the audience, stood up and applauded.

But yeah, I loved "Home..." I'd kind of had a bad day before seeing it, and it was just what I needed to cheer up. I loved Oh, the Boov that doesn't fit in with the others...he's voiced by Jim Parsons (Sheldon of "The Big Bang Theory") and is very sweet, funny and loveable. I just wanted to give him a huge hug, and if you see the movie, you just might end up feeling the same way. Captain Smek (the inept, buffoonish leader of the Boov) is played by Steve Martin, and is a real scene-stealer. The trailers and promotional stuff might make "Home" look like a kid's movie, but I think anyone of any age can enjoy it.
