I haven't had motion sickness for years, until just recently. I have to travel 25 miles on the bus to get to my boyfriends place, and I never used to have motion sickness issues on buses before, but lately it just comes on suddenly.

The last time I travelled on the bus I made sure I had some a few crackers and some dry biscuits before I went. I sat at the front of the bus so I could face the horizon, and I had some sweets with me. But I still began to feel unwell after about 15 minutes or so. I then get this dryness in my mouth and throat, causing an urge to gag. I have gagged before when on the bus, they are what I call 'dry heaves', because nothing comes up. The dry heaves are from some sort of spasm in my chest, not from the stomach, so I know I'm not going to be sick. But even so, I hate feeling like this when travelling on the bus. I have severe Emetophobia, so offering me ways to physically be sick is not the answer I'm looking for.

Some say it might be psychological because of my extreme vomiting anxiety, but I've always had an extreme vomiting anxiety but haven't had motion sickness like this for about 9 years, so why am I suffering from motion sickness again? It's making me feel depressed and worried about travelling.

I have motion sickness at times. I wouldn't eat anything before the trip. I would try to sit in front and look straight ahead. Failing that, I would look out the window so I could get some air. Cool air is especially good for motion sickness.

Failing all that, I would buy motion sickness tablets from a pharmacy.

I heard ginger is supposed to help with travel sickness (not sure in which form you're supposed to have it though, as a tea or lollies or whatever).

Are you sure it's not something else like strong exhaust and diesel fumes coming from the bus? Or even cleaning products used on the seats and glass?

Oh, GOOD thought----I hadn't thought of THAT!! !

I always suggest Benydril----but, since you're in Britain, I've already heard they don't have it, there----so, any antihistamine should work. It calms whatever "issue" / hypersensitivity you're having----if it's anxiety / panic (my guess, since you said it was coming from your chest instead of your stomach), motion sickness, reaction to fumes, etc.
