Hi guys

I just wanted to say hi, and see what useful discussions we could have. I was diagnosed with aspergers when i was about 6 and normally i don't feel too out of place , but there are moments like this one where i feel very lonely in this NT world. There are loads of questions i want to ask, but i'd rather leave them until later.

So yeah , ask questions galore if you want. I can't answer all of them since personal privacy and all but i am sure i can give you a perspective on my life and hopefully learn from yours.

Cheers

Welcome aboard! I've found this place to be really great for helping with that sense of loneliness even in the short time I've been here. I hope you find the same.

I guess a nice starting question would be , who do you find it easier to talk to NTs or Aspies? I mean i know it isn't as easy as that, but having to adapt to a NT world means for me that I can get used to NTs. IT's kinda like being in the middle of two worlds (Insert matrix reference here).

That's a hard one. Obviously the majority of people I speak to and the majority of my friends fall into the NT category, and for the most part they're cool.
Some are really f*****g draining to talk to, I'm thinking of this dude at work who I think is great to talk to, we motivate each other to get through the BS of having a crap job, but after about 3 minutes I'm running really low on motivation to continue the conversation. Really intense eye contact, prolonged handshakes etc.

On the other hand, my housemate seems more autistic than me. He flaps his hands when he gets excited, won't shut up about really insanely boring crap, every day the same story; can't read the body language of my sitting there with my head in my hands going 'yep... yep... yep...' because he's talking while I'm trying to eat and for some reason I can't concentrate on how tasty the food is while he's banging on about whatever...
But then sometimes we have these really deep philosophical conversations and it's really refreshing to be around him. I guess it depends on both of our moods.

In conclusion, everybody s**ts me

Yeah, i get that feeling as well. I guess i like NT's more because you can actually walk away from them most of the time. Some people consider it rude, but if it is at a social gathering i.e a pub i can just mingle and not be in intense conversation.

I do have a few aspie friends, and a best friend who i can spend an infinite amount of time with xD. I guess with most aspies the problem can be that once you find out their obsession you are then locked in conversation with them whether you like it or not. It can be a good thing though, because you finally get through all the bs that NT's talk about (you know the small chat).

I dont really know any Aspies except my daughter. That is one reason why I joined this site, I want to find out being an aspie from other aspies instead of just reading a book.
