Okay so while ago I got my Ados back and it was the most my worst nightmare in her diagnosis it says although there are many symptoms that point to autism spectrum disorder diagnoses it is highly likely that these behaviors are explainable by her most recent psychiatric symptoms Jennifer appears to have suffered for my psychotic break over the past year but a subjective out of either a serious mood disorder or possibly development of schizophrenia. As such much of Jennifers prior behavior and symptoms were likely pre-mortal symptoms related to psychosis.

My psychiatrist ( The one that gets medication ) says I have autism level two which is partly self-diagnosis what I mean by that is why can I don't remember when i started researching Aspergers and autism I know but I do remember that I was diagnosed with symptoms of aspergers (and recently I was also diagnosed at the school board psychiatrist with asd somewhat toweds the Aspergers level although the child autism rating scale showed moderate severe symptoms of autism although that might have been before he seen that test and my score on the autism rating scale was a 77 .)when I was younger looking it up which ended up with myself diagnosis of autism spectrum moderate although my doctor might think it's milder then I think he still diagnosed with autism level two. Actually at first I thought it was as too. But then for some reason switched to classic autism.

Haven't really shown him this report yet ( the ados) yet I just talked about it and you said that you cannot have a second diagnosis along with autism well you can but it's like you did but not the full diagnosis but autism covers. What I think he is trying to say is that even though you can be diagnosed with something else too it's not really warranted in his opinion Unless it's severe. I don't really know if I want to show him my ados or if I should.

Even though my hospitalizations are due to mainly symptoms afraid of what happened family member of mine and thinking that someone was trying to hurt me and because people gave me a horrible time in the hands of others in the past and durring the hospital although I don't know if this correlation is the truth or not. However what I do feel guilty for some reason I feel like God would hate me if I was subconticisly faking or exadurateing autism. Or especially if I'm some how doing it on purpose but won't admit it to myself. What if my grandmothers right what if I am exaggerating or faking?

Only you know if you're exagerating or faking. I doubt you are.

Assuming you're your regular self & not putting on an act, then you are you and all of these tests and words on paper are merely labels trying to classify & describe you. Even if other people can't decide or agree upon what your diagnosis/es is and what label(s) to call you, you're still you.

The ADOS and your psychiatrist's evaluation are meant to provide you with the best treatment for you.
You're going to be an adult soon and the objective is to be as independent as possible. Your grandma won't be able to take care of you forever.
And like the previous poster said, regardless of what labels they put on you, you are still you. Labels won't change who you are.

You really need to talk to a psychiatrist who can help you understand the report. Don't make assumptions! This does not sound like an autism test. Autism tests have all sorts of info like IQ readings and statistics about how you learn.

If you get a test from a psychologist who specializes in schizophrenia, he is only going to tell you about schizophrenia. The doctor can't tell if you have autism or not. What I hear in your original post is that this doctor thinks that you should be treated for schizophrenia and that he doesn't know if you are autistic or not.

You have to understand the history here. All autistics used to be treated like they where schizophenic. That was abusive! So today, doctors are careful to make sure that they patients they treat for schizophrenia are not only autistic. In your case, you may have both Autism and schizophrenia. That means that its OK to treat you for schizophrenia, even though you might be autistic, too. Please talk to your doctor until you understand what they are proposing and WHY before trying any medication. If you really think that you are not schizophrenic at all, you have a right to refuse their medicine.

Well, you have two apparently opposing opinions (though your psychiatrist will probably have something to say about the matter). So, why not be the tie-breaker yourself? Assuming both professionals are equally experienced, you still know more about yourself than they do. They can only add their observational understandings of you. If I were you, I would make my own "most likely" decision, choose the professional who comes closest to your decision, and advocate for yourself. It might just be that there is a blend of truth between all three opinions.

Good luck.

Also, what you are describing is not self-diagnosis. You've had specialists agree that you have autism. You only have one doctor saying you don't. Psychiatry isn't an exact science. They can't tell for sure what you have. All they can do is try to find the best way to help you feel better.

You aren't a faker. You haven't made it all up. You don't need to feel bad or change your ideas about who you are. You need to decide inside of your own mind what is the best way to descibe what is happening with you.

The help of a good psychologist is a great place to start with this.

Psychologists have gotten more conservative in diagnosing. That's not a good thing when they're re-assessing you for previously diagnosed ASD.

What I read in your post, which I know is little comfort, is that in the psychologist's opinion, you show many signs of ASD but she is not diagnosing ASD because she has chosen to ascribe those issues to another condition.

She may be right, she may be wrong. She is probably not however any smarter or more capable than the professionals who say you have ASD. She simply has a different opinion.

The ADOS has a reputation as a gold standard. It is a subjective tool. Try as much as you can to refocus on what you think and what you need.

If you identify as having ASD then there's nothing to be gained your showing this report to other providers. You've told them it exists, that's enough. It's their job and their role to look out for what's good for you, not root out the truth in diagnosis. Because the truth is, there isn't any way to say absolutely yes absolutely no without some expert still being able to argue otherwise.

And the truth also is that if you felt clearer from other problems in a year or two and were re-evaluated, that next evaluator could easily say that the recent evaluation was correct because of other things hiding the underlying ASD which now that you're doing better has become apparent.....there is always a way for them to be correct.

Please try not to agonize and obsess about this. Your psychiatrist now knows about it and still says you have ASD. To me this seems confusing and you being confused a sign of the ASD, so I would trust the psychiatrist who takes care of you. Not the psychologist doing the evaluation.

How are you doing otherwise Jenni?

She is a "autism specialist" but she did get a lot of things wrong in the report including family history she's not really a doctor because she does not prescribe medication although she calls herself one.

http://www.wjcs.com/clientuploads/AutismGuide.pdf

The problem is I wanted to get into their autism services

my theripist works with wjcs as we'll as the office of mental health and she believes what The" specialist"said and believed my phycitrist said pretty much at the same time. She believes that I have autism symptoms as well as mental health symptoms. But my psychiatrist says it's all autism and that I was only hearing things due to my anxiety.

This is where the self-diagnosis comes in even though that's the only part that says I don't have autism( or whatever she meant by that) I believe that if my psychiatrist sees this he might not think I have it any more. Although I really hear voices anymore my therapist says this is due to the medication. And that I'm still mentally Ill.

My psychiatrist says that as I said before I am autistic and was hearing voices Due to anxiety which he says is the number one problem for people with autism that are girls.

thank you for your response. anyway I'm doing good I'm looking for a school to go to because I am on Home and hospital because my school is too hard for me and they say I need more support.

I'm going to an interview for school called summit school on May first.

My mom just visited and I'm in a program called escapadesLink if you look under programs you Will find it and if you look under mission you will see my picture. Escapades is really fun and I'm with my best friend. We had something called a garden party.some People like me played on the playground where others gardened. And we saw all kinds of animals from a lady who brought them in.

I've told therapists who were pushing something that was too much for me that it was unhelpful and to stop. They didn't usually believe me at first but eventually.....because being confused about people's behavior makes me anxious which makes everything harder.

I think it would be really hard for me to feel like I was a battleground for diagnosticians and I would need them to stop this and focus on....me. Not what label to give me. And if you really want that agency's services and your therapist and psychiatrist think it's right for you, is there any way to get their services? Or what can be a substitute?

I think those are the important questions.

And there is not only the political stuff about psychologists are trying not to "overdiagnose", there is the money issue. And that they might think they are helping because you are approaching 18 and there are generally more services for mental illness than autism for adults. I don't think making you confused is worth it. But the evaluator very well may.

But Jeni you're not doing anything wrong.

I just looked up ADOS. It was developed after my time in this field. And it looks like they diagnose without the whole pscho-educational evaluation part. Well, shoot. I'm sorry you might not qualify for the program you want.

You're 17 years old, right? I know kids hate to hear this, but that is so young. These are big questions that many people struggle with their whole lives. What am I? Where do I fit in? How can I get services that fit my special needs? Its all very big. And yes, hearing voices is more common than you think and can be brought on by anxiety. Its also a possibility that you do have schizophrenia, in which case you are just as lovable and valuable as you were before that was identified.

And yes, you are not doing anything wrong. You are safe and you are the same person you were before you read those test results.

Actually I'm 16 but for some reason the site changed my age to 17 and then when I tried to fix it it didn't work it gave me an error. I'll be 17 August 3rd.

I still feel like I have autism level 2 but my therapist does not care about labels but for some reason I care about all can tell her that I have autism what I mean is I want her to accept my psychiatrists diagnosis as truth otherwise I'll feel like a fraud. I don't know why my diagnosis is important to me but it is.

Now I am unsure because of what my therapist and the ados said but I will trust my psychiatrists opinion however I don't want to show him the ados because he might think differently and think I have schizophrenia or bipolar disorder even though he says that people who say that are wrong when I told him that my Ados suggests I have a mood disorder or schizophrenia along with my autism.
