There's an episode of the X-Files in which Mulder is interviewing or interrogating a suspect who was a pawn or minion of a cultist who has been mentally conditioning his followers. In the interview, Mulder is quoting something like a portion of the cultist's preachings and raises one or both hands and the suspect raises his foot because he was conditioned to do so if the cultist raised his hands.

Kind of a long-winded description of a 5-second scene but any help you could offer would be appreciated.

I can tell that you did some searching because that's what I found when I searched for "X-Files" and "cult".

However, there are a few points that I'd like to make:

I'm a little insulted that you think that I didn't search for it myself using boolean terms. You think that if I posted something in a forum asking for help with the episode title, that I wouldn't have already done a search for it?

Second, if you're not an X-Files fan, don't bother. You're probably not going to get the episode unless you do a search in which case you get the wrong episode entirely.

And finally, there are 60+ views for this thread. It's titled in part, "X-Files fans...". One would think that a large portion of those views would be X-Files fans. It's like if I were to post something a question about golf. I'd expect only people who gave a damn about the game and knew something about it to post a response. If there's a thread about a Star Trek topic, that's what I know, that's what I'll be replying to. If I don't know something or am not interested in the subject, I'm not going to bother. "Female physiology experts, when should I get my first period?" to which I'd reply if I were following the logic of Nebogipfel there, "12" because the poster used the first answer they found in a search and not being an expert in any way...you follow? No, of course you don't. We're aspies. There's very little we "get".

Orizon - 7x07, could it be this one? There's an interrogation and post-hypnotic suggestion. Mulder is not the one quoting here, but using his hand to get the reaction.
Youtube; I think the moment you're describing starts at 9:50.

Yes. It's Orison. The one where robert Patrick modell from pusher in season 3 gets let out of jail and the jailhouse preacher is brainwashing them. He ends up trying to kill scully in her apartment but she shoots him and he dies.

RPM returns in season 5, not 7.

OP, your description doesn't sound immediately familiar, but I hope you find the answer. I'm long overdue a rewatch, tbh.

InsidetheX is a great website.

In the Orison episode (7x07) Donnie Pfaster, who was first introduced in Irresistible (2x13), escapes prison and goes after Scully again.
