5 Reasons Liberals Are Such Unpleasant People To Be Around

http://townhall.com/columnists/johnhawkins/2012/04/03/5_reasons_liberals_are_such_unpleasant_people_to_be_around

Quote:
Don't get me wrong. Not every conservative has a winning personality and not every liberal is a toothache in search of a mouth to inhabit. In fact, one of the single nicest people I know is a liberal (Hi, Julie Joyce!) Yet and still, it's not a reach to say that most liberals, especially the ones that are politically active, are just generally difficult to get along with.

It's not just me saying that either. I've interviewed more than one big name conservative who has told me that they moved over to the right in large part because the other liberals they were around were such insufferable human beings.

Liberalism encourages arrogance: ''Liberals tend to believe they're brilliant, compassionate, moral, enlightened, perceptive, and courageous, not because of anything they've actually done, but just because they're liberal. When you completely divorce a person's self image from his behavior, it produces terrible results -- like liberals who hurl abuse at conservative women while believing that they're feminists or selfish left-wingers who've never given a dime to charity, but believe themselves to be much more compassionate than people who tithe 10% of their income.''

Indulging in a bit of counter-trolling?

I disagree with most of the author's points, but #3 is a winner, if a tad hyperbolic:

Quote:
3) Liberals see people who disagree as evil: Liberals see themselves as part of a Manichean struggle in which they’re trying to create Utopia on earth while they’re being opposed by people who want to do evil for evil’s sake. In other words, liberals are about as complex as your average comic book from the fifties. As Charles Krauthammer has said,

To understand the workings of American politics, you have to understand this fundamental law: Conservatives think liberals are stupid. Liberals think conservatives are evil.

When you attribute disagreements with Barack Obama to racism, opposition to gay marriage to homophobia, standing against abortion as hatred of women, and a desire to balance the budget to loathing of the poor, you have a hopelessly simplistic view of the world that makes you utterly impervious to reason. Stupid, you may be able to educate, but evil, you have to defeat -- and liberals are seldom picky about the means or the manners they use while trying to do so.

I have to jack someone up every other day here over the bolded part, invariably liberals; as much as I hate to generalize, I don't often see the bad faith that the left displays towards the right reciprocated, the right just thinks the left is misguided or stupid.

Kraichgauer proving my point in 3, 2, 1...

They are happier because of big bank accounts.Poor people are too busy trying to get food or pay they don't have free time to be happy.
Traditions? How does he know what traditions people hold dear or practice.
Disagree =evil?More likely stupid, or just being bull headed.
Religious, yeah, those crusades were awesome.lets do it again.
Arrogant,the article seemed pretty arrogant.

just out of curiosity--what does an opposition to gay marriage that's NOT homophobic sound like?

Liberals are nicer than conservatives. It is a fact.

And round and round we go.

Anyway I could say more but it might be violating the rules.

You can disagree with Barack Obama without having racial prejudices against him. You can be pro-life without hating women. But, there is no reason to oppose gay marriage other than homophobia.

The article wrote:
2) Liberals don't care as much about tradition:

If 'tradition' means going back to the life of the 1800's. Indeed USoA is heading that way. OOPS.

Quote:
4) Liberals aren't very religious

What is wrong with atheism? The bible is nothing but a book of fairy tales. Get over it.

Quote:
3) Liberals see people who disagree as evil:

We have another textbook example of Conservatives self defeating stupidity. The whole rant is about how bad 'the Liberals' are. e.g.
Quote:
Liberals aren't very religious

Quote:
Liberalism encourages arrogance

How can someone that ignorant in basic reasoning be right? Indeed, they are so upset when they see the opposition debunking their rhetoric with reason.
