every time I go into subway, I get wierd looks when I choose not to put any vegetables or condiments on my sandwich. I guess they're used to having people pile on loads of condiments. lol I'm a picky eater and I just need meat and cheese

I've not got the confidence to go to a subway and order. The whole system confuses me.

I can't say I have noticed weird looks but then I don't look at them so don't notice. But I only ever have tuna and lettuce and they always assume that everyone wants it toasted. And always ask what sauces and everything you want on it and I can't figure out why anyone would want so much on a sandwich.

Babybird, I know what you mean. It's just too much damn work building a custom sandwich. I just want to say "gimme #17," pay, get my order, and leave. I like simplicity.

I have trouble with decision making too and in The Subway you have to make big decisions.

I'm the same when I buy a sandwich off the shelf. I can never make the decision of what to get, so I just get the first one I see.

I don't even always like it either.

Too much choice is not good for babybird! :D

I'll add vegetables if they go well with the meat, such as chicken and cucumbers with a light, sweet dressing, but I won't add cheese, mayo, etc. I don't know how people tolerate the mish-mash of flavors and textures. Melted cheeses and meats ruin fresh, crisp vegetables most of the time.

I always put way too many things on my sub, and lately I've been trying to mix things up a bit and order different things. Sometimes I can't think fast enough though so I just end up ordering my usual. The amount of choice they offer can be extremely overwhelming, but I deal with it because it offers the best bang for your buck of any fast food place here.

Great, now I want a sub. I'm so hungry right now. XD

I like Subway because I watch them fix my sandwich and make sure that it is reasonably sanitary.

At one Subway once, I ordered a tuna and was amazed when the guy couldn't find a scoop to dish out the tuna onto the bread with and so he reached into the sink and got a dirty scoop and used it. I was speechless while watching him fix the dirty tuna sandwich. When he was done and asked me if I would like anything else, I said "Throw that away and make me a turkey sandwich." Since he didn't need a scoop for the turkey sandwich, he managed to fix one that I would eat.

At another Subway near Houston years ago, there were two women in their mid 20s who worked on Friday and Saturday nights. They had NO concept of cleanliness at all. They would never clean the counter area off until time to close the store. They were also rather messy so that within an hour or so after they started their shift, the area would be an inch deep in vegetables. More than once I got up to the front of the line and ready to order but told them to forget it when I saw all the garbage piled up where they were fixing the sandwiches. I cannot understand why anyone would accept any sandwich from them fixed in such appalling conditions.

The employees at the same Subway would use the lettuce bucket to get fresh ice for the ice machine. The result was that the ice would be filled with little green flecks (I'm colorblind and assume they were green, anyway). Fortunately, I prefer not to have ice in the drink anyway.

For a while they got tired of slicing onions and having it bother their eyes. They never would use my suggestion of cooling the onions off for a few hours in the refrigerator first. One of them got the stupid idea that if they soak it in vinegar first, it won't make them cry. Those vinegar soaked onions tasted really, really bad.

I never go into Subway - firstly I try to support the local small businesses and the local bakery makes a much better salad roll, mind you I usually just get a pie. I find their rolls are too crunchy and too big to fit in your mouth. The salad stuff they have to choose from has a whole lot of weird stuff that shouldn't really go on a sandwich, and they want you to decide too quickly and that stresses me out.

Even though Subway Canada runs national ads on the radio station where I work and my younger sister is a manager at a Subway where she lives, I stopped going into the local restaurant when a new franchisee took over a couple of years ago and brought in mostly new staff. The new owner has put far too much emphasis on upselling and suggesting things, and I despise this practice in any line of business. The previous franchisee and his staff didn't push extras, other than combos, but the current owner requires every customer to be pitched any number of add-ons: bacon, double cheese, double meat, spinach, avocado, a $1 donation to the local hospital foundation, and so on. Even when I've specifically said I don't want any extras, they reply "are you sure you don't want extra cheese or bacon?" In general, the food's good (I love their house sub sauce!) but I can't stand the service at this one location. Last time I went there, I made sure to get a receipt and do the online survey and explain that I don't like how this location is run these days. Instead of going to Subway, I walk five minutes to the supermarket down the street - they have an excellent "lunch counter" beside the deli, with different and very good sandwiches, wraps, subs and salads, and the in-store bakery has single servings of pies, cakes, even trifle, to top it all off.

I always get the same thing, every time I go. Thankfully I don't have issues with the workers trying to upsell me things or being unsanitary. I like it when I have time to go in there.

certain foods make me gag for some reason, I never understood why. I usually eat the same foods over and over again. I have a strong like for hamburger, or steak.

I don't put any on mine either. O_o I get pepperoni, chicken, shredded cheese and marina sauce. :3 No one gives me weird looks about this anymore. I can't eat most vegetables due to having bad teeth/gums. Anything I have to take time chewing through also results in very inflamed and painful gum tissue for me. If anyone is giving me weird looks, it's for the following reasons: I'm wearing one my animal hats, carrying one of my plushies (comfort object) or wearing my backpack.

My mom has noticed people giving me really odd looks before. I don't notice them though, but she always makes a comment to me about it. I'm surprised people do that to you. It's not any of their business what you like and don't like on your sandwich. They should know that people have different preferences and such.

If I heard someone ask for something really bizarre on their sandwich, I would probably give them a very puzzled look. Especially if the "topping" was not considered a food item.

But for normal food items, I can't imagine why anyone would even notice.

If I'm going somewhere to get a hamburger, I usually carry a bottle of Cholula Hot Sauce with me to sprinkle on the hamburger. I have gotten some odd looks, but I assume it was just surprise that someone would carry a bottle of hot sauce around with them.

On a couple of occasions, someone at a nearby table asked me if they could have some Cholula Hot Sauce for their hamburger, too.

the first time I went in subway I was overwhelmed by the amount of questions about what I wanted on it. I just wanted a sandwich and they kept asking me all these different questions and I have a real problem with making decisions so that just added to the confusion. Now I just stick to MacDonalds as I know exactly what I'm getting and I simply get what I ask for lol.
