Hello everyone,

I have this no-sense-making disposition towards certain words: There are some words I don't want to say and that I will avoid saying at all costs. There are also some I just can not stand, whether it be spoken or written, whether I have to write it or I have to say it. I if expect someone to will say one of them, I cover my ears and when I read it, I cover the word with my hand.
It doesn't make any sense, especially since the words in question seem to be completely random. For example, I can't stand dimunitives (Like, book -> booklet). Unfortunately, these are used a lot in my native tongue.

Does anyone else have this? Is it just me or has it to do with some mental condition?

Words themselves don't annoy me, but if ANY word is written in comic sans I get rather cross. I find it shallow and patronising.

We had this discussion in the general autism section one time.

I did used to have an aversion to certain words when I was younger. Even today, I'm still quite selective over which words I will choose to use, and also in how I compile my sentences.

Some people have said it could be related to synaesthesia and some people said it could be due to something else. But I can't remember what now.

i don't really like the sound of the letter b, it's cheesy and intrusive. the sound of v is a nice alternative. i have an aversion to long consonant clusters at the ends of a word that all make different sounds, but if say, a word starts with 4 consonant letters and 2 letters each represent one sound then it's fine.
words ending in a vowel-m are nice but they seem rather moist. they're pretty common in Hebrew, a language i like.

"th", as in "thick" is the devils whisper.
