I've came across a few people on here who take supplements, and was curious if there might be any trends in supplements taken by people with Autism, perhaps that help with things like anxiety etc.

I used to take fish oil capsules and muli-vitamins although fell out of the habit when my cashflow was having problems. Yesterday decided to try taking vitamin B supplements as I've been having fatigue problems and also got some vitamin C to help my immune system for the winter (mentioned this in another thread, I know).

So, what supplements are popular on here and for what reasons?

I was taking vitamin B12 and Vitamin D tablets because the doctor suggested that I try them for a certain purpose. I stopped taking them because nothing changed.

I sometimes take vitamin C tablets because they taste good. They come in an orange or lemon flavor. I sometimes take far more than the recommended dosage because I can't help it.

Iron. Suffered from iron-deficiency anaemia for years. I couldn't tolerate oral iron when I was really ill, so had to have iron infusions (and one time a blood transfusion). For about a year after surgery my iron levels were stable, then my ferritin dropped, so I'm back on the iron supplements.

Vitamin D. 2000IU a day. After years of steroids, lack of sunlight, etc., my Vit D levels were probably at rock bottom.

Multi-vitamin pill. My diet isn't the best right now.

Fish oil. GP suggested this one.

I'd also like to try a vitamin B12 supplement, but it would have to be in an injectable or sublingual form, as it's not readily absorbed otherwise. I do suffer from fatigue and I've lost a portion of my terminal ileum, where B12 is absorbed. I don't think anything I take helps with my autism or anxiety symptoms, but my burning feet have become a lot better. Think I'm less stiff as well.

I take Passionflower in liquid form 2000mg 6 drops a day. This is for anxiety and it works very well.
I take Night time Kalms to get to sleep or I get nightmares or can't sleep at all. It is acutally valerian, people say valerian helps with anxiety but it has no effect on me at all, but it does help me get to sleep.

I require the above supplements to live a life and feel human.

I also take fish oil and work out related supplements because I usually work out 3-4 times a week.
I try to not drink alcholol.

None, as the last time I did it induced a whole lot of anxiety and multiple panic attacks.

I eat more different foods nowadays, so I don't have to worry about not getting enough of one vitamin.

I take a multivitamin & several other vitamins/minerals, but I've found that the best thing I use that helps reduce anxiety is an epsom salt lotion on my skin to absorb the magnesium sulphate in order to detox salicylate acids.

Another anti-anxietal I use is orange blossom water - just a spritz of it in your face from a spray bottle & inhale.. the scent is very calming. (the essential oil is Neroli, but buying it as orange blossom water bottled for drinking is very inexpensive.)
