Some historians argue that Poland shouldn't reject Hitler demands, considering the fact minister Józef Beck left Poland among one of the first, that Czechs compelled with every Hitler demands and their territory was mostly intact by war damages, compared to Poland or UK, where cities was turned into rubble by Luftwaffe.
That Poland stance triggered England to declare war on Germany, because they have Mutual Defense Pact with Poland signed several weeks ago, and that forced French French to declare war too, because they had treaty with the Great Britain.

Some historians argue that Poland is co-responsible for outbreak of World War II, and Poland needlessly refused Hitler, but he was shunned as traitor and lack of Polish patriotism, that if he lived at that that time, he would (certain par of body) suck Hitlers, lick his .... and he would probably sell hideout of Polish Jews and freedom fighter, to Germans(nazi intentionally by small letter ). Read Hitler's own Mein Kampf for information on what Hitler actually planned to do with Europe. Poland quite rightly did not give into Hitler's demands. Also look up the Molotov-Ribbentrop plan on how both the Soviet Union and Germany planned to carve up Poland to suit their own ends. Poland stood up to both of these countries, and only in 1990 did the de-facto Soviet occupation of Poland as a country end. --Currently much territory that was Poland prior to 1939 is now Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia as you should know.

So the alternative to war and destruction would have been letting Hitler peacefully conquer the World. From the course of the war it seems likely that he wouldn't have stopped invading countries until he was forced to stop. That would've meant, in addition to the exterminating the Jews, such things as starving a few tens of millions of Slavs, and reducing the rest to slaves.

No, the sole cause of the war were the German Nazis, the Italian Fascists, and Japanese imperialists. Well, them and the victors of WWI who had laid the inevitable reaction to the so called peace treaty.
